MemberHey Freddy thanks for replying but you didn’t read my question properly,I said that I had to clean install the YIM6 so all the previous settings are gone and the YIM6 just hangs if I try to use any tabs of the main application like Preferences etc.I think it is due to Launch cast radio, Guess I have to make another thread for it.
So I m simply asking that if it is possible for me to Enable Archiving without sign in first coz even if I revert back to the old YIM version Archiving would not be enabled then also and I don’t want to loose my offline msgs ……so is there a way to do it through some registry manipulation or any other way .
Thanks for your reply.June 1, 2004 at 11:36 pm #44613neo_ny_23
MemberNo. I dont think its possible to enable the archive without logging in. Atleast I dont know any way. But you can do one thing. you can save your offline messages on a .txt file and then enable your archive.

You can enable archiving using the registry.
1.click Start>Run
2.Type regedit
3.HKEY_USERSDEFAULTSoftwareYahooPagerprofilesusername(this is where your yahoo ID will be)Archive
4. In the right hand pane double click Enabled if it exists.
5. Change the value data to 1
6. If Enabled doesn’t exist you will have to created it in the Archive folder
7.Click edit>new> DWORD VALUE>name the value DeletedAfter >click DeletedAfter in the right hand pane and enter the 3e7
7. Click edit again >new>DWORD VALUE>name the value Enabled
8. Double click Enabled in the right hand pane and enter the value 1, this should enable archiving, change it to 0 to disable. If you have your archived messages on your computer, but can’t read them because they’re encrpyted, then you can simply download this hand little decoder: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/Chat/Instant-Messaging/YahDecode-Yahoo-Archive-Decoder.shtml
