In a Chat room, even though I have set the IM/Chat option to have the Enter key insert a Return, it sends the chat message. It DOES insert a Return in IMs but not in Chat mode. Why is this?
Looks like the option for Enter key inserts a Return only seems to apply to IM windows and not chat rooms. I checked back in a few older versions of AIM and this appears to have never been an option.. as far as I could tell. It seems that a new line cant be inserted in chat rooms even using the default way of IM windows (Shift+Enter). So looks like there is no way to use a hard return in a Chat Room… thus the Enter key inserts a Return option not working in Chat Rooms.
That’s what I figured. Odd that in the preferences is says the option is for both IM AND chat though. False advertizing. 😡
I stand corrected. I took a closer look at the preferences and now see the IM and Chat options are in separate sections. ‘Enter’ does only apply to IMs. Thanks for the corroboration. 😮
