Tagged: black desktop, vista not loading
hey guys!
i went on vacation for a week and when i came back, my desktop wasn’t functioning.it boots up fine and gets to the vista log in screen. after i enter the password, the screen goes black. no desktop, no icons, nothing.
i researched a bit. some people found success by running the task manager (which i can do) and manually starting explorer.exe. when i tried this, it said explorer stopped running and needed to close.
some people also fixed the problem by creating a new user. i did that and nothing changed. i was able to run spybot: search and destroy, and that found 6 malwares. it took care of them but the pc still doesn’t work.
system restore will not load. i can get to it and go through the basic first questions, but it doesn’t actually start….it just stays on a blue screen and nothing happens.
i’m kind of at a loss. the last time i had a problem, you guys were able to help me….i’m hoping that happens again. i know the pc basics but i’ve done pretty much everything i know of.
any help would be greatly appreciated!
Try reinstalling Vista again-don’t reformat or anything like that. Just put in the Vista disc, boot from it and reinstall.
What happens when you start the computer in Safe Mode?
