It may help, it may not. I don’t know which error message your error code relates to, maybe someone else does?

MemberThe message I get with the error code when trying to sign onto MSN is: user name does not exist or password in-correct, I have search the bigblueball.com for answers on why this happens as well as many other sites and have tried all the solutions that people have posted, but 4 hours into finding a solution and I have found nothing.

MemberOk, are you sure you have registered your e-mail address as a .NET Passport. If not, you need to do so, then ensure you verify the e-mail address if it is a non-Hotmail one. If your e-mail address is not Hotmail, you will be sent an e-mail with instructions on how to verify your address. If you already have a .NET Passport, just ensure that the e-mail address and password, basically, your login details are typed in correctly. As far as I know, it is case-sensitive so check that too.

MemberYeah ive done all of that as ive had MSN for about 6monthes and its all been working perfectly and then this, I can login to net.password but thats it . I cant get on hotmail.com as the page just loads and then refreshes and loads and then refreshes, so I think it is a problem with my computer but not sure what it is yet, I know my password and screen name are correct as I have accessed it on other computers but just not my own.

MemberOk, one more suggestion for you, just to determine if the problem is with your computer or not. Create a new account and register that with the .NET Passport too. Then see if you can sign in to MSN with that new account. If not, then it would suggest that the problem if with your PC, however if you can, then the problem would be with your current account.
But yeah, apart from that, i’m out of ideas, any suggestions from anyone else would be appreciated. Thanks all.

MemberI was just thinking, and im almost convinced its something to do with my computer because why would I not be able to load the hotmail.com site . it just wont let me on there? do you think it could have something with me deleting my cache memory or not?
Thanks
June 4, 2004 at 6:35 pm #44222MartinBradley
MemberI’m assuming its only the Hotmail site that you can’t load? Nothing to do with deleting the cache I don’t think. Are you running a firewall?
I’ve just come across this too, might not be of any help, but I think its the same problem you’re having:

MemberMy windows messenger works but I dont use because I think its pants, but I also have broadband do you reckon that has anything to do with it?
Thanks

Memberyeah sounds like that person is having the same problem but so far no one has come up with the solution, I cant get on MSN messenger or hotmail.com. just to clarify.
Thanks

MemberNo, simply having broadband won’t affect it. I have broadband and haven’t ever experienced your problem. You didn’t answer my question about the firewall. Do you have Windows XP? If so, the Windows Firewall may be running without your knowledge. This may be preventing you from connecting to MSN. Also, to login to Windows Messenger, do you use the same account which won’t work on MSN? If so, make sure you have the latest version of MSN Messenger.
And if you do have Windows Firewall running, to disable it, and for some more info on it, check out this page:

MemberYeah I have a firewall and xp but set it up so it allows me to sign onto MSN as I had that trouble when I first got it, but thats all sorted. I dont connect to windows messenger it does it by its self even though ive never used it, I have messenger 6.2.
thanks
