I’m trying to make a shortcut to gmail and place it on my desktop. So I copy the file from c:Documents and settingsUser namefavoritesWelcome to Gmail.url I click it and I get this error
It goes to the site, but I keep getting that error, its rather annoying. Does anyone know how to fix it? I’m using firefox 0.9.2 and IE6.

Under Programs in your IE settings, click Reset Web Settings and also check the ‘make IE default’ box. Then close all instances of IE and open it to let it reset its associations.
You could just create a shortcut to “http://gmail.google.com/” in which case it’ll redirect itself to the right page.

What you can do is create a shortcut to Firefox, then add the url as a switch after the target. Under target of your link, it would look like this
“C:Program FilesMozilla Firefoxfirefox.exe” “http://gmail.google.com/”
Then you can change the icon to whatever and rename it.

July 16, 2004 at 10:19 pm #41608ladie_vennomMemberI’ve tried creating shortcuts and I keep getting that error. Maybe it has to do with us using firefox 0.8 and me using 0.9.2. who knows.
