MemberI am running behind netgear router and a software fire wall. I have accomplished file transfers with a couple of people on my contact list but today when I added a new person on my contact list and tried to do a file transfer I get the subject message. I have setup the firewall support before when i first started do file transfers. I am not sure what is different about this time. Could it be something on the other end? I tried my normal file transfers with already estalblished contacts and the process went as usual

MemberIn most cases when you have a firewall running and you cannot direct connect with someone you will need to disable your firewall, both the software and router. I don’t recommend this but if this is the only means of sending this person something then that is what you have to do.

MemberHi there,
I have a netgear router (WGR614) as well and cannot send or receive files from friends on AIM, Yahoo or msn IM, but can do it without my router plugged in. Do you guys have any suggestions on what to do to be able to share files??

MemberI have close to the same problem.
I am running a Linksys router and XP Home, I have dropped all the firewalls (I hope), and can send a file to a friend, but he can not send to me.
He has XP and a dial up connection and says any firewalls he could find are down.
We can type meassages back and forth with no problem, he just can’t send me files??We have tried match our ICQ setting and that didn’t help, we’re not sure at what end the problem lies.
We’re wondering if ICQ needs its own port on my router and ifso, how?
We’re both more than a bit computer illiterate, so any help would be most welcome.I have looked though the past posts and tried what I could understand, but still no luck.
Anybody??
TIAAl
