Whenever I view {or someone else veiws} my info, an error message comes up. It says:
A message has been received with characters that cannot be displayed with this system’s fonts, and instead are displayed with substitute characters.
What does this mean? And how do I fix/get rid of it?
Do you use any weird characters in your profile? Do you use downloaded fonts?
I use the Times New Roman or Arial. The message is still there, and now it’s appearing in my away messages.
Are you using gaim? some of my friends were and their away messages kept giving me that error too. I haven’t seen it in regular aim. Maybe you have something in your profile that has been left over… try this. Open the edit profile window, copy all the text into notepad, clear your info with the “clear info” button, and then copy from notepad into the edit profile window and fix any links you had in there. That’s helped me with nearly every profile problem I’ve had.
I have tried clearing my info & recopying everything. I’ve also tried typing in different fonts, colors, backgrounds & I still get the same error. I even cleared out my info completely, and the error message still appears. I tried reinstalling AIM, & down-grading it too, but its still there. Might it have something to do with AIM+?
