I got an error message (whole screen went blue with yellow writing) that sed someting about an error with a file tfsnifs.sys. It said other stuff like if it happens again to run in safe mode but all of that seemed to be general jargon.
I ran a search to see if it was on my compter, I found three of them but they were all created before I bought the computer, so i’m guessing that they come as standard. I ran I virus check, everything seems to be in order.
I’m just worried that it might happen again and all my files etc will be lost. I was connected to the internet at the time, but wasn’t at my computer for about 30mins, I don’t know if that has something to do with it. I’m running XP. And I was logged on to MSN Messenger at the time.
Does anyone have any information about this error, like what it does or how to prevent it from happening again, or if I should be worrying about it at all?

…that the error might happen again, which may result in files being lost if it is an errror which does that type of thing. (if that maeks more sense)
4n7, basically any random error can be a RAM problem.
confused_amanda, if the error only appeared once and didn’t do any harm, why worry? I’d only start worrying if the error appears on an annoyance basis. 🙂
Confused_armanda if you are worried about this error I would suggest that you update your hardware drivers, but like DJ said, I would not think that this is a harmful error seeing as it only happened once/
The Problem has to do with Sonic Record Now. The software usually takes about 30 minutes to mess up. This happens on both Windows XP and Windows 2k installations. The indication is a screen freeze with blue red and green diagonal lines that force your to perform an hard reboot. The easiest method of repair is to pull Sonic Easy Record and use something like Roxio or Nero. The problem is actually a conflict between the Sonic software and Nvidia Display Adaptors. Some variables may change on your system like your OS or your video Card but Sonic is the culprit when you receive errors with tfsnifs.sys
