Errors With MSN Messenger

I have a brand new PC running Windows XP and Windows Messenger. I wanted to use a Logitec webcam with Messenger and, as Windows Messenger doesn’t support this, I installed MSN Messenger. After connecting with a friend, we type-chatted perfectly, and then invited each other to see our webcams. However, when my friend put her audio on, after about 3 seconds, my system crashed with a blue and white screen and the only way out of it was to switch off the PC at the base unit. This I believe is a serious error. Does anyone know how I can solve the problem? Thanks.
