Why are USB extension cords so expensive? the cheapest one I could find was on http://www.BestBuy.com, and it was this one. I might try to find one at the local thrift store for a cheaper price, but for now, I want to know why the heck USB cords are so expensive. ‘Anyone know why?
July 23, 2004 at 1:29 am #41343BrianMemberGood question on why USB cords are expensive. I’d like to know why such is expensive, too. Have you tried stores like Big Lot(s?) or Wal-Mart, maybe they sell at reasonable prices? I’ve not bought another one for about two years now.
July 23, 2004 at 1:48 am #41348AwesomeSauceParticipantI could try Big lots, but it might be a long time before I go there. We don’t live close to any Wal-Marts; Wal-Marts are evil too ;), and probably wouldn’t be selling cords for 5.00$ anyway(the maximum price I’m willing to pay ). Like I said, they have a lot of these really cheap thrift stores in my state and in the western united states called Deseret Industries, and at the one they have in my town, they’ve got 2 plastic tubs FULL of all kinds of computer cords that I could buy for 50¢. 😀 I could get my mom to take me there; she goes there a lot anyway.

USB cables arent that expensive. Not as cheap as power and telephone cords. But still cheaper than audio wiring for speakers and sound systems.
July 23, 2004 at 2:44 pm #41347mrblonde608ParticipantI don’t know why they’re so expensive in retail stores, but here’s one for $5.19, add 5 dollars for shipping, comes to 10.19.
There’s also cheaper cables if you want to chance them.
When looking for parts, always head to newegg.com first, most of the time they have the best prices.
