I have been recently been having some problems with my computer. When I try to open My Documents, My Computer, or even the recycle bin, I recieve a message saying:
Explorer has caused an error in
Explorer will now close.
If you continue to experience these problems,
try restarting your computer.
My guess is that it is a virus.. does anyone have any advice of what to do or any virus protections to use? (I dont have any virus protection.. I know im stupid and I need to get one! any ideas of one to get?)
I have Windows ME.. if that helps any..
thanks for your time
This probably isn’t a virus. Your first problem is the fact you are running Windows ME. Anyone running ME with problems should upgrade to XP ASAP.
For antivirus, I recommend either AVG (http://www.grisoft.com) or AntiVir (http://www.freeav.com).
PS: Have you restarted your computer as suggested in the error?
Thats good that it probably isn’t a virus! I do agree.. ME does suck.. I have the XP cd but I need to have someone do it for me. I’m not quite the computer person haha.
I have restarted the computer, but no luck 🙁
thanks for your help Charles 🙂
I would definitely find someone to help you upgrade to XP. It isn’t that hard of a task if you follow the wizard and read the instructions. An upgrade is even easier, you put in the XP CD and it will bring up a blue screen. From there you select upgrade and enter in your serial number on the XP CD case and it will take about an hour to upgrade the OS while holding onto your programs and settings. :~) no prob
