Somebody found a very simple way to fake Idle, I got this from my colegue and he forgot where he get it from.
Copy this:
Idle472
and paste onto your New Status Message and your ID appears to others as Idle regardless of your action on the keyboard or mouse.
April 30, 2006 at 5:35 pm #143447amy_d_gParticipantI’ve tried this out and it works great… I am kind of curious as to how it handles the idle timer, how it shows “xxx has been idle for x minutes”, I will have to play around with it a bit later. Thanks for sharing this, this definitley looks much easier than the fake idle plugins etc.
April 30, 2006 at 5:40 pm #143457NessaParticipantI still find Elite_Nick’s Fake Idle Maker better, you can set a message along with the idleness to make it more realistic and when you look at your own message status list what appears is IdleÀ€47À€2 so that’s where whoever gave it to you got it from. Yeah having to not download another program is nice, but i prefer being able to add a message.
April 30, 2006 at 6:42 pm #143471williamleeMemberMay i ask a silly question?
Why and what would you use this for?
I mean I guess it shows your idle when your really not. would you still not get messages?
just curious is all.

Well at times when you don’t want to be bothered by certain people, yet don’t want to appear invisible to them because they use buddyspy to see if you are on-line, you use the fake idle so then if they see you as idle, they’ll think you are busy and not at your computer, hence not bothering you. Well that my reasoning for using it at times, hardly use it though.
April 30, 2006 at 9:10 pm #143467Eagle_KiwiMemberPersonally I just use the standard “Busy”.
And anyone who dares contact me when Busy – for anything less than “life or death” – soon gets firmly told!May 1, 2006 at 12:25 am #143452aneagleParticipanthatedjealousy wrote:I still find Elite_Nick’s Fake Idle Maker better, you can set a message along with the idleness to make it more realistic and when you look at your own message status list what appears is IdleÀ€47À€2 so that’s where whoever gave it to you got it from. May 1, 2006 at 12:26 pm #143472moraMembermy settings are on “never show me idle” … and I use A LOT the status message for communicating to my friends if they are going to get a reply from me or not, and when… so personally I don’t see any practical use for this fake idle status…

I tried it the other way around. I put the message after that and it gave me other results.
Now i’m curious on the time, is it just me or does it never move past one minute?
EDIT: Nevermind on that last question, i’m just a very impatient person. 😐

Well I tried to copy and paste this code but when I right click to paste it in the status window there is nothing, no menu. Is there another way to paste it into it?
May 3, 2006 at 8:37 am #143446nwraduMemberUse the keyboard shortcut, CTRL+V to paste 😐
Btw, about all this “i’m invisible but they use buddy spy and talk to me anyway” and the other issues, maybe you should just make the courage to tell the people that are bothering you just that, that they are bothering you. It won’t kill them, it won’t make them hate you, it’s ok to be busy from time to time and say you don’t want to be bothered, everyone feels like this from time to time, so they’ll understand.

You’d be amazed at how some people are. Plus the people i have in my buddylist use the busy sign for other reasons. Yes i know you can go to the trouble of putting a status message along with it, but it won’t apply to everyone and i’m not going to write an extra long status message to explain. Everyone just has their different ways of doing things. And it’s not about not having courage to tell them, just choosing not to. You don’t honestly know the people i know or anything about them so you aren’t to say “it won’t kill them or make them hate you” because they aren’t all as “strong” as you. Yeah some people have sensitive friends…

August 6, 2006 at 4:35 am #143449EliteNickMemberUnfortunately on the new Yahoo! Messenger 8, copying and pasting packets like that won’t work. They’ll just show up exactly how they’re put. This is because from what I can tell there’s now 2 different spots in the registry for the status to be saved, one for normal messages (and it filters out ASCII and other stuff), and another that allows ASCII such as those packets. The problem is, from what I can tell, you can’t select to use the second spot from Messenger to save a status. With my program Fake Status Maker, it puts an empty spot in the normal status area, and puts the packet code in the area that allows ASCII. :]
