ParticipantNick,
Y!M 8 doesn’t send the text “Idle” in the status packet, it only sends the status code 47 2 to show the clock icon. FakeStatusMaker doesn’t send a correct packet if I check the Idle box without entering a text.August 9, 2006 at 4:39 am #143450EliteNick
MemberAh, well I assumed people would type that manually if they wanted it :p
I updated the program so if you check a status and don’t put anything in the text box it just says “Error: you must enter some text”.

ParticipantNick, is it possible to send an Idle status packet exactly like the one generated by Y!M so your status will show only the clock icon without text. With version 8 if Idle status is shown with text you can tell right away it’s fake.

MemberHyperIM sends the right packets and also ASCII :p
Nick, here’s a hint: UTF-8. I won’t spoil it all…August 9, 2006 at 7:44 pm #143464Arthur

ParticipantYahoo! Messenger 8.0 will show it if coming from the YMSG packet itself but not from a custom status message you manually put in.
specially in YMSG15

Memberguess wrote:Weird, you guys say it works but I can’t even right clock in the new status messege window..First of all it will not work in YM 8.0 if you manually put those characters in the status via Paste (Ctrl+V). You need to use some other app that will correctly send the right string, as this is no longer possible by usual user interface of YM 8.0. There are already two programs that will (try to) do this, you can find their names in the previous page, you need to use one of those, or try both if one does not work 😛

ParticipantIt would be time to change this thread to “Fake Idle No Longer Simple”. 😀
I tried FakeStatusMaker and HyperIM but no way to send the clock icon without text and make it look like the genuine v8 Idle status. For the moment I got to get back to a heavy tool, AntiHook, it block Y!M from loading Idle.dll and Y!M will show me as Idle until I exit Y!M.August 10, 2006 at 6:41 pm #143462Nessa
Participantaneagle wrote:It would be time to change this thread to “Fake Idle No Longer Simple”. 😀Alright i made it “Fake Idle very simple! (for versions lower than 8)” since it still works for versions like 7.5, 7, etc. 😛

I tried FakeStatusMaker and HyperIM but no way to send the clock icon without text and make it look like the genuine v8 Idle status. Are you saying that you just want the clock icon without ANY status text? HyperIM adds by default “Idle” if you don’t put any text, but that is something that can be corrected very easy in code; I just thought that if no status exists then it should read “Idle” (maybe they changed that behaviour in v8.0, I only know this is how YM did it when I’ve last seen a true idle user with no custom status).

ParticipantOn version 8 when someone is idle, there is no “Idle” text showing, only the idle clock, so when someone uses the fake idle status and the word idle is next to their name, it makes it obvious that it’s a fake idle. That is what they were trying to say 😉
So yes, they want the clock icon without any text at all.

MemberWell, you could just put a space and then click “Set” and there’ll be no text. Problem is, it’ll show a dash (-) next to the ID. Still, better than nothing.
