MemberIt is me but I do wonder why people send this sort of email, that just arrived in my inbox …..
“Dear..i need your response,
I am the head of Accounts and Audit Department of Bank of Africa,
Ouagadougou .I decided to contact you after a careful thought that you may
be capable of handling this business transaction which i explained below;
In my department we discovered an abandoned sum of $10.5m US dollars (Ten million, five hundred thousand US dollars). In an account that belongs to one of our foreign customer who died along with his entire family in 1998 in a plane crash. Since we got information about his death, we have been expecting his next of kin to come over and claim his money because we cannot release it unless somebody applies for it as next of kin or relation to the deceased as indicated in our banking guidelines but unfortunately we learnt that his supposed next of kin(his son and wife) died alongside with him at the plane crash leaving nobody behind for the claim .It is therefore upon this discovery that I and other officials in my department now decided to
make this business proposal to you and release the money to you as the next of kin(We want to present you as his business associate )to the deceased for safety and subsequent disbursement since nobody is coming for it and we don’t want this money to go into the Bank treasury as unclaimed Bill.”Blah blah and all the rest … I mean what am I going to do … ok chum here is my banking details take the lot have a nice day.
Worse still are those emails that tell you if you don’t reply to at least 5 others, the heavens will open and you will be dead in approximately 4 hours. Cheers mate thanks for that, your a great pal!:D
Gosh, I love to rant hehe, but I wonder what annoys you the most about email? 😎

ParticipantYep – it’s this and the religious “chain” emails . . . say a prayer and send this to 7 (or 12) friends in the next 5 minutes and you’ll be blessed; if you love God, send this on . . . if you don’t then just delete it. Like threatening that if I don’t send on this drivel I obviously don’t love God . . . ridiculous!
And the ones that say something wonderful will happen when you send it on to (insert number here) people and if you don’t you’ll be sorry. Again, ridiculous threats.
And the people that send on political agendas expecting that I am of the same mind and just want to read all about this nonsense.
All annoying and filling my deleted files box.

i wonder where people get the ideas to send these e-mails. and the sad part is how many people actually reply thinking that they`ll get the money.. hahahehe!!April 12, 2007 at 12:00 pm #160120MrOats
MemberI heard about this on ABC news. An “ex-con internet scam artist” confessed to ABC and revealed all secrets to the “Black money scam”.
Supposedly, if you reply to one of these emails, they will meet you at a “meeting place” you arrange with them(e.g. Your House or Coffee Shop) and show you a suit case of “black money” (construction paper cut to size of currency). They will try to sell you a “magic solution” (crushed Vitamin C tablets in water) to remove the “ink”(Iodine and Elmer’s glue) from the $100 bills… They will claim that the bills had to be covered in black ink to smuggle out of Africa and into the US.
The scammer will coat a few real $100 bills with the “ink”, and remove it with the “magic solution”, to get you thinking the whole briefcase/box/etc… is full of “black money”. Some will even let you spend it to prove it’s real. (Although only a few of the bills are, while the rest in the briefcase are just black construction paper…)
The scammer who confessed sold this solution to a greedy victim “even for a $1 million.”
And even a Heart Surgeon fell for this scam! People have lost their life savings just to buy the “magic solution”.This is not just relevant in Africa, it is becoming a world-wide scam.
The rest of the story can be found Here.

ParticipantYes, marketing that preys on the stupid… It’s been around forever, not a new concept, only relatively new to the internet. It’s a medium where transmitting messages is virtually free. And even if 1/10th of a percent of the mail is responded to, they will make money. If you don’t like it, get better filtration software. it’s just one of the issues with the internet in its current state.

ModeratorI’ve got Mail Frontier Desktop installed in my system, and it’s one of the best antispam programs I’ve ever come across. It filters accurately 99% of the crap that comes my way.
