I know this has been asked to death; I’ve checked the other topics, but I can’t get file transfer working in my MSN. I use Messenger 5, and a Linksys BRFSR41 with the latest firmware.
I’ve tried following the article in the Linksys knowledge base to no avail (granted I don’t know if I did it right or not). I can’t seem to get it working.
Odd thing is; I had file transfer in Windows Messsenger working, then I upgraded my firmware because numerous past topics in this forum recommended it. Now neither of them sends, and I have no idea which firmware I was using before or how to get it back.
Can someone please help?
You configured DMZ?
I don’t really know. I’m sortof new to all this.
Enter your router configuration at http://192.168.1.1 enter no username, but use “admin” as the password.
Then click on the orange “advanced” tab on the left.
go to the “DMZ host” tab.
Set it to use your Internal IP as the DMZ host, if you use DHCP then this won’t work.
That should do it, good luck.
So if I disable DHCP and set up the DMZ host it’ll work?
This won’t leave big gaping security holes?
Well it will lessen the security some, but it’s just about your only option if you’ve tried everything else.
