MemberThis is a question that might help those that suspect someone is posing as a third party to snoop on their messenger or other online activites.
I want to be able to determine the IP address and general area for someone using Messenger. It doesn’t need to lead me to their house, just the neighborhood/ZIP or street would work.
Is there an add-on or other program that does that? I would also accept one part obtaining the IP and my having to enter the IP into a separate location-finding application.
Some might find it an invasion of privacy, but it could also help us to avoid an ex spouse or boyfriend/girlfriend that poses as another person to catch us doing things they think we should not.
Thanks.

MemberNope. Such thing is a major breach of security and privacy, so I don’t believe such questions should be asked here about that, because of that reason.
Instead of trying to find ways to spy back on people who *may* be posing as a third party, why not just ask/confront them? Here’s my philosophy; if somebody has to resort to play games with you, or mess with your head, they’re not worth your time. If somebody does that, break all ties with them and move on. If it’s some kind of online girlfriend/boyfriend, and you’re worried he/she is playing you, don’t get into the relationship. Most internet relationships are a joke anyways, because of such uncertainties and that people can be tricky, mistrustful, lie and play games with you. In that regard, I suggest trying local singles or something like that. If people decide to act childish and play mind games with people, that’s their choice and anyone doing that would be placed in my ignore bin quite quickly.
It’s those people who play such games that causes people to play the EXACT games back (and that’s what you want to do, plain and simple). So, I’m sorry, I cannot help you with this because I refuse to because it’s against my better judgment to discuss this any further here, where malicious people could be lurking, looking for information how to obtain an IP address and use it against somebody.
Then there’s the fact that a person who is playing mind games is smart enough to log a second instance of Messenger in with a proxy, which would make this useless and impossible to find out.
That’s my two cents, fire does NOT fight fire in this situation.

KeymasterIt is good to confront and ask them but it is also good to make sure they are not lying when you confront them. Detectives spy all the time and it is to keep others safe and to make sure these people are not causing problems. You can’t say that under all circumstances, it is not good to invade privacy, if it means protecting yourself from being hurt later by that person. But after gathering the info, I would tell the person. Knowing the truth can save you and what you don’t know can hurt you.
Also, dating websites are stupid. I would never do it. It shows that these people are so desperate and too weak minded to handle loneliness and they are letting their emotions cloud their judgement, and posting too much info of yourself like that is not a good idea. I heard a story of a person meeting someone online and after a while, fell in love with this person. Later she met that man at his house and found out he was much older and married or something. 😀

MemberStill, that’s a trust issue between two people whom should just discuss it, and not lower themselves to try to obtain IP addresses for whatever reason.
