I use ZoneAlarm as my firewall and it seems to work fine. Problem is I can’t sign into Yahoo IM. It gives me some message about cookies. In order to get in I have to shut down ZA for a minute, log in, and start up ZA again. In just the few seconds this occurs I get tons of junk on my pc and must run AdWare after each session to get rid of it. If I lower my settings (if I even can) I figure why have the firewall all kinds of stuff would install. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Try going to the program controls on zone alarm and add yahoo messenger to the list of programs that have access to the internet that should do it.
Hope this helps
Oh and after you add it to the list of programs that have access, right click on it and click options and make sure that the options with check marks aren’t something that would prevent your yahoo messenger from connecting.
Hey max,
Are you running ZoneAlarm Pro? or the free version? Make sure the “Cookie Control” in the “Privacy” section are set to “Medium” and NOT “Off”. Also it looks like you got adware/spyware problems. Use Ad-aware, Spy-bot and Spy Sweeper with the most recent updates and do a full scan of your computer and NEVER forget to do a virus-scan also.
Yes I am running Pro version. I will try adding Yahoo as an acceptable program for ZA. Thanks.
