I have outlook express and my firewall is not permitting my mail to go through.. I found this out because I argued with my isp and they had me take down my firewall for arguements sake, I did for a second and sure enough all my mail came rolling in..
I have nortons internet security.. I have searched and checked to see if outlook express is blocked and its not.. So, I am open to suggestions. Anyone know how I can get my mail WITHOUT disabling my firewall?

April 10, 2004 at 4:22 pm #81644Jeff HesterKeymasterI argued with him because before I switched to this isp, I still had nortons 2003 and It had NO problems with my outlook.. My uncle has the same on his machine which I put on there and his is permitting his outlook.. This is why I argued with him. Arguing with him wasn’t the point anyway, the point was my norton’s was not/ is not allowing my outlook Express mail through and was there a way for me to configure it to go through..
April 10, 2004 at 5:14 pm #81649DoSMemberJustified – whats your email account POP3, HTML, SMTP…. ect.
i can help you with the ports, but I wont be able to tell you how to configure your IP Tables since I dont know how to use Nortons Firewall.April 10, 2004 at 8:22 pm #81643Jeff HesterKeymasterpop.sbcglobal.com, smtp.sbcglobal.com, I walked through it with my isp and they said my pop, smtp servers are set up right BUT that my nortons is not allowed it to go through. They are right, but as far as I know nortons is configured right too.. Very strange.. When I had road runner I never had this problem.

1- POP3 Port: 110
2- SMTP Port: 25
Goto your nortons settings and these 2 ports to set norton to allow connection from these ports and after that it will hopefully work.April 10, 2004 at 10:29 pm #81647DJHyperbyteMemberI am not exactly sure how Norton handles this, but you have to allow the following connections:
– Outgoing TCP/IP to pop.sbcglobal.com on port 110
– Outgoing TCP/IP to smtp.sbcglobal.com on port 25If Norton does not enable you to enter these detailed settings, then it might be interesting to try another firewall or to get a router. If you have a router, you could render most firewalls useless as a router blocks most incoming connections by default.
