MemberIs this possible that my firewall block incomming messages on yahoo messenger? i mean normal IM from people on my friends list. I noticed a weird thing lately. Sometimes, i’m chatting to a friend, then I get an alert from norton firewall. And either I don’t receive their messages or the ones im sending dont go through.
I’ve had Norton Firewall for ages and I never got problems with receiving or sending IM except in the past weeks.

MemberIf they are on your friends list and you are on their friends list, this could happen.
Yahoo! puts you into peer 2 peer mode, meaning your messages no longer go through Yahoo!, but direct to each other instead. If norton rejects it, Yahoo! Messenger should tell the Yahoo! server p2p was declined, but doesn’t look like it’s doing this.
Let Yahoo! Messenger have server access in Norton Firewall. When prompted for access and your IMing, allow access.

MemberI’m never prompted for access when I’m IMing. I created an automatic access rule for Y!messenger when i installed the firewall. Now should I try to change the connection settings in yahoo messenger? (in login menu) Or could it just be yahoo messing up? cause it doesnt happen all the time

MemberI would still say this is what’s happening.
You might try and play with those settings though, it might stop the p2p transactions occuring.
Yes, look at the settings for messenger, it’s probably been given client rights only, and not server, it will need this for any p2p activity. The port range is 5000 to about 6000 I think, can’t remember off hand.

MemberI have a question b4 u. I am using Yahoo in my school. The problem i am facing is that the messenger gets disconnected automatically and sometimes my IM’s are not reaching the other end. Is there any option to keep the connection alive in Yahoo messenger ie to keep on sending packets.
