I want to change the default font background color in AIM. I know I can change the “window color” in the preferences, but that way the whole window has the new background color. I hate the way that looks. I like the behavior when you change the background color on a window-by-window basis. Is there any way to set this so I don’t have to change it every time I open a new window? If it makes any difference, I’m using AIM 4.8.
April 22, 2003 at 4:58 pm #97076Thunderacer9989MemberI dont’t see what you are saying……… Why don’t you want to change the color in preferences? I think what you mean is that the person that you are talking to has a different color backround then you and you always want a solid backround, but if the person you are talking to has a different backround then you it shows up it srtipes…… Am i getting the point? Sorry just supply A little more information
April 22, 2003 at 6:07 pm #97079JasonQGMemberTry doing it both ways. If you have it set in preferences, the whole window background color switches, including behind your screen name. I hate the looks of this. If you set it on a window-by-window basis, only the text you write will have the new background color.

You might try to find an ad-on at download.com, you’ll probably just need to find a text replacement or something of that sort. I’ll keep my eyes out for something
April 23, 2003 at 8:46 pm #97073Kar715Memberive wanted to know this too. i hate the way the whole window is colored. the only way i do it is by highlighting the text each time i get an im. its a pain, but so far i think thats the only way to do it. sorry 😎

That option is not present in the preferences, only on a window-by-window basis. At least I don’t see it on mine.

Yes, but that has to be set for each conversation.
