Microsoft recently released a Windows Update that modified IE so that when you try to use things such as Javascript or Flash (things that use ActiveX Controls), you get a box and a message saying ‘click to activate and use this control’:
This is in response to a lawsuit from another company. There is a workaround here: http://capitalhead.com/articles/click-to-activate-and-use-this-control—kb912812.aspx
The work-around requires removing 2 Microsoft updates, which some consider to be too important to remove (because it features other security updates). So the decision is more up to you. A patch from Microsoft should be available in June.

Eolas claims that Internet Explorer infringes on that patent and wants royalties. Software affected by the patent would include Macromedia Flash, QuickTime, RealOne Player, Acrobat Reader, Sun’s Java Virtual Machine, and Windows Media Player among other applications that embed into Web pages.Basically Eolas won the case and now “Microsoft is modifying IE to shield itself from liability”
