does anyone know where I can get a free program kinda like windowblinds w/the skinable themes and stuff…i was just wondering if there were any other alternatives….Note: im not trying to get a pirated version of stuff like this I was just wondering if there were any simulare programs like this b4 I actually go out and waste $20.00 on windowblinds …if you can help please reply..thanks
This is similar to WindowBlinds but it only works with XP.
BTW, it’s also a trial version and costs pretty much the same ($19.95)
well I suppose that suggestion works, except for the part about it not being free… as far as I know all the programs that skin windows require you to buy something… you can recolor stuff (as long as you’re using a windows version before XP, or classic mode in XP) with 3DCC
There is a patch you can use that enables the use of 3rd party themes. I’m not really sure about it because I havent tried it yet. But you could give it a try and see. http://www.windowsx.org/enhance/myvs/uxtheme.html
Style XP is the best
you can try litestep. its a bit different than stylexp and windowblinds. 🙂 http://www.litestep.net

Going into more detail about what f0rbez posted, this is a patch that replaces your Uxtheme.dll file and allows you to use any theme wanted. Originally Microsoft made the decision to not make Windows themes open-source but someone discovered how to patch the theme file to allow you to use 3rd party visual styles. No software is required =)
The patch replaces the file in C:WINDOWSsystem32
And you place your visual styles in C:WINDOWSResourcesThemes
You can then change between themes by going to display properties and then to the appearence tab (Right click on desktop > properties >> Appearence)
