This is the newest AIM profile provider. It is bran spaken new and it is offering a ton of features, including:
Unlimited Pages with unlimtd length and complete customization
Unlimited Polls
Display Real Names
Easy viewing of logs
NO Enforced Ads!
And much more…I have plans to add more features such as a questbook and unlimited quizes.
If you are tired of providers enforcing ads or not giving you the customization you want, then give freedom profiles a try.
Please post any comments here as the freedom profiles are not really active and I do not look in them yet.
December 8, 2002 at 8:54 am #99288Jeff HesterKeymasterI especially like the terms of service…. 😉
December 8, 2002 at 7:24 pm #99294qbalerMemberHey Like I said its a new site. I just made all the other pages yesterday and cleaned up the manager. Terms of Service and Privacy Policy I’ll try and do today.
December 8, 2002 at 8:50 pm #99287Jeff HesterKeymasterI was just giving you a hard time. Looks like a nice site, and no ads!?? Very nice!
December 9, 2002 at 6:04 am #99293qbalerMemberThank you, I’ve worked very hard on it and I hope to make it the best profile provider, thats why I am open to any sujestions and feature requests.
But I must say Jeff, you really have to register to see how it really is. So far the people that I’ve talked to that have used it really like it.
Only problem is getting the word out 🙁 and since I unlike other providers will not enforce a thing like “sponsored by freedom profiles” it makes it that much harder.
Thank you for accepting my link in your links section though :)!
December 9, 2002 at 6:36 am #99296sciencefeelingMemberHi everyone!!!
Here I go again in my adventurous IM learning….
I tried this profile editor and I liked it veeeery much. Soooo easy to use, sooo easy to include whatever you can think of…
I asked my friends to take a look and give me feedback, and they all liked it (now i have to say something more meaningfull instead of “i am trying out this editor, tell me if you like it” :))).
The ‘real name’ feature is very cool and again, so easy to use, no html knowledge whatsoever is required…whatever colour you want to use..you can look up the number right there on their paint palette…
I didn’t use more than one page, but it was as easy to create as many as i wanted…
The bunner possibility is cool too…you decide who sees what, great!!
Give it a try guys!!
No personal information required when registering (thanks dude for that, i dont know aoout you guys but i hate long registrations!!), just an email address a registering name and of course, your aol screename.
Easy, easy, easy…, free, free, free, …cool, cool, cool….
Thanks for sharing it!!!!
NGDecember 9, 2002 at 4:28 pm #99286Jeff HesterKeymasterI signed up to check it out. Looks pretty good overall. My only complaint was that it seemed slow at the time, but that could have been one of a million different things. I’ll check it out again later and see if it’s faster.
qbaler, do you have any idea how many active users you’ll be able to support and still maintain this as an ad-free service?
December 9, 2002 at 4:46 pm #99292qbalerMemberthanks sciencefeeling, and that paint pallete thing I plan to make it able to click to freeze the color and have buttons like “make background” and “make default font color”, ect.
Jeff my current host isnt the greatest but its free and free is always nice. I have another host lined up that I should be mooving to before the new year.
However with either of these I do not know the maximum I’d be able to support. I do know that I really do not likea ads and if I am forced to emplace ads I would not enforce them on any of the pre-registered users.
January 8, 2003 at 3:07 am #99297Adidas06Participantwhen will we be able to use freedomprofiles?
January 8, 2003 at 2:57 pm #99295twistedmetalMemberOK well your link was slow for me to load as well, and it also told me the page could not be displayed.
And adidas06, if you can get the site working you can use it now.January 9, 2003 at 4:42 pm #99291qbalerMemberFreedom Profiles is currently down. My host, as Jeff said, was mostly the main problem with freedomprofiles in the slowness. The host has gotten a new connection (2mbs up and down) and we are now waiting for his dns server to get registered so that it can be used.
I can tell you that the last thing I was working on for freedomprofiles was what I call freedombot. A bot on aim (basictly just an interfaice with menus) that will allow you to add your real name (so that when vieiwing freedom profiles that wanna display real name if yours is not given in there account it will use the one u gave the bot) and I am gonna get some sort of bloging system. You will be able to add the screen name of the owner of your account (by default this will be the screen name you entered when registering) and then when you talk to the bot you can add more blogs and ofcourse add/edit/delete them through freedom profiles.
I also am being bugged by a friend to get guestbooks working so that will be the next thing after the blogs work.
January 12, 2003 at 5:22 am #99290qbalerMemberWell we (whenever I say we I’m refering to freedom profiles but its kinda of a joke among friends of mine that I say we since its just me) provide a free profile service with no restrictions to any limits what so ever. We are working on getting more and better features. We currently have unlimited polls, randoms, pages, a nice loging system and some other neat things.
Freedom Profiles was made because I was tired of the adds that places like subprofiles put into your profile (and also the millions of pop ups u get when vieiwng there page) and thought I could do a better job. Not to mention they didnt have some features I wanted. I also wanted to learn php… which I am glad to say I have done.
However as I said in another topic we are down due to some weird php problem. The domain is back up with the host but with this weird problem the php scripts are unable to get data from a included file and (which messes up the whole site). I am trying to figure out reasons for this. So far I am speculating it is a problem with the globals as the file does get included just no data transfered.
January 13, 2003 at 4:42 pm #99289qbalerMemberFREEDOM PROFILES IS BACK!
http://freedomprofiles.com is back up. However if you had a freedom profile before, you need to change your link in order to allow people with spaces in their name to see it correctly (info on this can be found at the home page).I have also added a feature list page: http://www.freedomprofiles.com/pages/features.php which shows I believe most all features freedom profiles has… I plan on also making a Future Features page that will say everything I plan on adding.
