My daughter’s AIM is really acting weird. It worked fine until sometime after she came home from college during the Christmas break. When she signs on, AIM acts like it has signed on but her buddy list doesn’t come up (well it kind of comes up, but doesn’t show any names or other info.). Then after a few seconds you realize everything has locked up and you have to close it with the Task Manager.
The only thing that changed while she was home, was the expiration of her antivirus software and the installation of Zone Alarm shortly there after. Since this problem reared it’s ugly head, she has tried turning off Zone Alarm, uninstalling and reinstalling AIM (My husband tried to do this also, in more detail), Updated to 6.0, restored to earlier date on her computer, do a virus scan, and make a new screen name. When she made the new screen name, she had a little success, but not enough. She is able to talk to only one person at a time, but if more than one tries to talk to her, it locks up. Any suggestions?
I wish I could hop on the computer and get a feel for it. You could try running AIM Fix to hunt for an AIM-related virus, which might be contributing to the issue.

It’s an excellent program and I’ve used it for years. It will display what it finds, if anything, and create a text file on your desktop with a log of what AIM Fix did. If there is a virus, please post what it was AIM Fix found.
