I have set up the Wildfire IM server (it’s excellent, btw) for my office and I am testing it out with Gaim as a Jabber client.
I have noticed that a normal message window, when minimized, will flash on the taskbar to signify an incoming message but a mininized conference chat window does not do the same.
This behavior occurs on both Win XP and Fedora Core systems, therefore I believe it is a default behavior of Gaim’s.
One workaround is to configure Gaim to raise chat windows on events, but that can be very distracting, all we really need is for the user to notice that there’s activity in the conference chat room.
Is there a config file I can tweak to make Gaim’s flash all minimized chat windows, regardless of whether they are normal chats or conference chats?
this can be configured in the “Message Notification” plugin prefrences screen. here is a screenshot of that screen (taken in xfce desktop environment while using xubuntu): http://i1.tinypic.com/242sea9.png to flash chat windows just check the “Chat Windows” check box under the “Notify for” text.

edit: i just realized that the version that i’m running is 1.5.1cvs. you may need to figure out how to compile from the cvs to make this work for you.
I set that option in the Notifications plugin, but the window still doesn’t flash. any other ideas?
