gaim won’t connect to AIM or Yahoo

Hi Guy,

I just installed gaim 0.78 on a Solaris 9 box, but I cann’t connect to either AIM or Yahoo. The error is something like “….Couldn’t connect to host”.

BTW, I can login to AIM using netscape 7 instant messenger on the same Solaris box.

Any clue?

Using 0.78 on a Windows machine and I’m on all messaging networks. Wonder what could be the problem?

just downloaded gaim 0.78 windows version and installed to my pc (xp professional), and I cann’t connect to AIM or Yahoo either.:(

On the same pc, I can connect to AIM using AOL instant messenger and to Yahoo using Yahoo messenger.

I think I found the problem – I can only use port 443 to connect to AIM from my office, but gaim is using 5190. So anyone knows how to specify port in gaim? I tried the perference, it still uses 5190.

Would you tell me how you fixed it?

I was never ablo to log into AIM, and Yahoo doesn’t work anymore, either…
