The internet connection at my site has a crappy filter wich doesn’t allow me to go to many sites that are perferctly fine and educational. Anyone know how to get around these filters. My filter is from websense enterprises.
Ha…my school has the same exact one. I think that it is all just routed through a proxy…if you go to your IE internet options you can tell the proxy to shut up. The dirty bastards…except our computers are locked out from accessing the proxy information. If that isn’t the case, then it is all in the router…which only the guy with the password can turn on or off.
My school uses the same one!
Wow. How interesting………………
Anyway. The best thing is to submit a directory of links to your network admin, and allow him to review them, and put them on the safe list. If your school has no control over the big brother (ex, the school board controls it) consider telling your network admin to discuss which sites need to be not filtered.
I know this was the case at my school. It filtered everything. It was terrible. We couldn’t get Google Images, because of potential porn, etc. We just had it removed. Big brother’s cause more of a problem, than preventing them IMO.
