well…. that would be send file. he wants to know about get file. basically its the same thing, only in reverse. you can get a file from your buddy’s computer to your own, IF both accounts allow it. I dont know of anyone who actually has this enabled, but its entirely possible. i’d think its a major security issue, but then again it IS aim.
I don’t think that’s a default setting to allow it, but you might want to check your settings anyways.
It’s like a fileserver that you can run through aim. Go to your aim preferences and then go to File Sharing, and you can see all the options for it. If you enable file sharing on your aim, then your buddies can “Get File” from you.
Not many people use this, as stated above. I tried it before with one of my friends, and it seemed to freeze up aim pretty badly. This was a few aim builds ago and I haven’t used it since, so I can’t really let you know whether or not it has improved at all. My suggestion would be to only enable it on a case-per-case basis, such as if your buddy wants to take a pick of some mp3s from your collection.
If you hold your mouse over a screenname in your buddylist, and it shows “File Sharing” amongst the Capabilites, then that means that you can “Get Files” from them. 😀
