MemberOkay, I hear (or read, rather) everyone on this forum buzzing about Gmail. I didn’t really care what it’s about. However, a girl who is in one of my groups for a class was checking her email one day, and on her screen i see GMAIL really big.
So, what is this? Why is it such a big deal? Is it just email sponsored by google? Why do you need to be invited into it?
Could someone clarify this for me? Thanks.

Participantyes, gmail is google’s venture into the email world. it’s still in the beta stage, meaning its not perfect yet. that’s also partly why you need an invite to use it… the idea was that people who used it could invite others to use it, and then they get a nice big base of beta testers.
personally i think its pretty good. there’s still a few things that could be better, but overall i like it. i have a lot of invites, i can send you one if you like and you can see for yourself…

You need to be invited because its still being tested before they let the public use the servers.

MemberOkay, well currently I use excite mail. I think I need a new email, because my dad has a hard time receiving things that I forward to him. I don’t know if this is just me, or others have had a problem.
As far as I can tell, both Tiger and n3td3v, you both like it. Would you recommend for me to switch if I am having this problem with excite?

Participantyes. i would. i highly recommend it over other webmail accounts… i’m working on switching all my internet accounts over to that address.
send me an email with your name and email address, i’ll send you an invite.

KeymasterThe only thing I don’t like about it (yes I know it’s still in beta for like 9 months) is that it doesn’t have rich text editing and you can’t attach certain files like zip and exe.

KeymasterI sent you a Gmail invitation. It doesn’t hurt to check it out.

KeymasterYahoo! Mail and Yahoo! Mail Plus allow exe and zip.
Yahoo! Mail Plus is good, well worth the money. 2GB of storage and more. See http://mailplus.yahoo.com. I like it better than Gmail. Its not that much money to pay.
