what can be added to send a messgae that was created by a link?
such as
aim:goim?screenname=XX&message=XX
would open a wondow, addressed and including a message, but won’t
send until enter/send is used
how can that function be added to the link?

enter/send ofcourse must be used, how else would it be achieved? What is your requirement?

I think he’s trying to make it so the user doesn’t hit enter, instead it sends it automatically.

Someone will probably prove me wrong, but I don’t think that’s possible. If it were possible, it would be a serious product defect, because mischievious or malicious web developer could code links that send messages from another user without them even knowing it!

Yes, I realize that it could be used for good, too, but the potential for abuse makes it too risky in my opinion. Imagine if a deceptive programmer created a page redirect that opened an AIM message. He could potentially cripple a company or user account with thousands of instant messages, all sent unwittingly and unbeknownst to the participatants. Not good.

Frankly, I want to know what messages “I” am sending out. At least the current link method gives me the opportunity to review what’s being sent, and either edit it or cancel it altogether.

yeah yeah i’m lazy and didn’t know what that was
and of course i’m going to use it for evil,
can’t really think of any good ways this would be used
surely it’s not impossible.
