Google on Wednesday took the wraps off a new search engine devoted to Web logs, or blogs, which is also integrated with the company’s Blogger publishing tool. The Blog Search uses RSS feeds to index blog content, and Google says it intends to include as many blogs as possible, including those in foreign languages.
“Whether you’re looking for Harry Potter reviews, political commentary, summer salad recipes or anything else, Blog Search enables you to find out what people are saying on any subject of your choice,” Google says. Soon the company will offer a form for bloggers to manually submit their site, if it isn’t automatically picked up.
‘I searched for my name and found 5 results from BigBlueBall, it isn’t showing my blog but giving priority BBB.’
September 14, 2005 at 9:11 pm #130165SpikeMemberAww…My Blog isn’t in the index.Well, that might have something to do with the fact that I just opened it 2 days ago. Oh well, I still added the new URL to Google, hopefully they’ll pick up on it sooner or later.

September 14, 2005 at 9:38 pm #130162Jeff HesterKeymasterit seems google (blog search) isn’t following the following meta tags: nofollow, noindex, and noarchive provided by livejournal. this really makes me sad. 🙁 i cannot believe that they would do such things. i really trusted google until now.
Code:i used the removal page http://services.google.com/urlconsole/controller to remove the pages that shouldn’t have been indexed in the first place. you may want to see http://www.google.com/webmasters/remove.html if you are having similar problems.
September 27, 2005 at 11:44 am #130163Jeff HesterKeymasterlivejournals that were indexed (by accident says google) are no longer being indexed says livejournal: http://www.livejournal.com/community/lj_dev/695091.html… whee! run around in circles i say!
my livejournal on the other hand is still listed. here is what they said (which contains lies especially since they indexed tons of livejournals that contained the NOINDEX and NOFOLLOW meta tags):
Quote:Thank you for your note. We understand your concern in this matter, and
we’d like to reassure you that Blog Search (beta) was designed to respect
robots.txt files and both the NOINDEX and NOFOLLOW meta tags.We appreciate your taking the time to bring this example to our attention.
We have passed your email on to our engineering team for further
investigation. We appreciate your taking the time to write to us.Regards,
