Some people have expressed concern that Google Maps’ latest “street view” feature (still only available in some cities like San Francisco) may be an invasion of privacy.
Here’s the truth behind it:
[yt]fPgV6-gnQaE[/yt]Food for thought, anyway. :p

Yeah, the government is watching us all, the moon landing was fake, and your hat is nice and shiny.

So you can’t go by what it does today but you have to look into the future. What’s that got to do with moon landings 40 years ago? But some tin foil might keep the sun from getting to you like it seems to be from your reaction to the absolute facts regarding the technology getting better.

It would be amazing if they added Toronto into the mix.. I haven’t lived in Toronto since I was 9, and obviously things have changed, so I think it would be a huge benefit to experience the city in the comfort of my home so when I do make the travel, I don’t feel like a tourist in my own backyard, so to speak.

Actually, that isn’t what you said. This is what you said:

I don’t know what the hell you’re talking about, you made no mention of technology getting better.

They’ve (recently) added a LOT more data, even my small (40k) hometown in CT is covered. Toronto just might be coming very soon.
June 30, 2008 at 7:48 am #168694sarahtownyMemberClever stuff!
Wish they would update our area the shot must have been taken 3 years ago. Had to laugh on the way to work the other day, a presenter on the radio thought googlemaps was live, and if she were to wave out the window her friends would be able to see her :0)
May 7, 2009 at 4:38 am #168698kelseycMemberFor the longest time, I thought that googlemaps was somewhat live too…I had no idea how they had cameras EVERYWHERE. But eventually, I learned how they did it. 🙂 I use streetview all the time- it helps me scope out a new business or restaurant I’m going to so I know what it looks like and then neighborhood of houses or apartment complexes that I’m looking to rent.
May 10, 2009 at 2:35 pm #168699Joe BallMember“Look away!” I’ve seen that video before, but it’s still funny as hell.
May 10, 2009 at 8:01 pm #168687detn8rParticipantMaybe it’s just me, but I can’t seem to find locations to use it. Anyone know if Toronto is on the map yet?
May 11, 2009 at 2:38 am #168692TigerbladeParticipantWell, let’s find out! * goes to google maps, types in “toronto” and clicks “search” *
looks like it is.
May 11, 2009 at 3:31 am #168688detn8rParticipant¬¬ smartass… I was referring to the original point of topic.. street view.
May 11, 2009 at 4:18 am #168693TigerbladeParticipantPssh. You said nothing of the sort. *innocent look*
The Oracle says Google wants to have street view for “the whole world!” but, alas, Canada isn’t part of their scheme for global domination yet.
June 4, 2009 at 3:21 am #168697kelseycMemberI don’t think it’s really an invasion of privacy….I like having Google StreetView in order to see the building or house of what I’m looking for if I’m trying to find a new business.
