How long do you think before this is announced? gmessenger.com is registered under go daddy. Looks like its in the pipe line in Google’s ongoing longterm plan to beat rivals Yahoo! at online services for consumers.
i dunno how long before its announced (if it is indeed in the works)…. but i imagine if/when they do release it, it will be just as awesome as the rest of google’s stuff.
unfortunately, i dont see many people switching over, unless its an inter-op program. people stick with what works, and with whatever the majority of their friends already use. i’d be willing to switch over, but i’d have no one to talk to since they’re all on one of the other networks….
It needs to be:
– Lite, no added features that bloat a users system up. (Yahoo! Messenger 6+ bloats my system up with senseless features aimed at kids. Like audioables and avatars, for example. Not forgetting the dreaded skins! Remember, its ment to be an instant messenger, not a space ship.)
– Basic, but with functionality of voice, webcam and fileshare, and e-mail notification. (Basically everything Yahoo! Messenger 5.6 was before they screwed it up by releasing 6+.)
I agree, it’s going to have to connect to the other networks, or it will be a big flop.
Yahoo! Messenger is ok I have it only because I know 3 people who don’t have aim so they talk to me on yahoo.
