Hello Everyone: I signed up for Google Email a week ago, but I dont use it much, only when needed. Anyway I just noticed that when I am on my Yahoo IM screen and I click on “Send An Email” yahoo email use to come up, but now Google tries to come up!
How do I Yahoo email to come up like it use to? Thanks, TomMay 6, 2006 at 12:15 pm #143920moraMemberHi Tom,
could it be that your new Gmail account shows as your primary email address in Yahoo?
I remember that when I created my Gmail account some time ago, all of a sudden the Gmail account showed as my primary email address in Yahoo… I actually hadn’t set it as such… it was like an automatic thing… I changed it manually, setting back my Yahoo email as my primary address and everything worked fine.
Not sure if this helps… 🙂

But thats not it, thats the first thing I checked and its ONLY the Send Email button that brings up Gmail, if I click on “Send IM” to someone then the Yahoo IM screen comes up normally.
I always get this weird stuff, that no one else seems to get and is hard to figure out?May 6, 2006 at 2:39 pm #143918williamleeMemberim a bit confused as to what you mean by send email button. If you can tell me is yahoo your home page? what Browser are you using? and what all have you downloaded since you first noticed this problem?
Your problem sounds like a simple fix and very well could be but the more information you can give the better help we can be.May 6, 2006 at 2:48 pm #143912tomsbbbMemberIf you bring up your yahoo messenger screen, you will see the yellow envelope on same line as the phone (for calling IM) if you put your mouse up to it, it will read “Send An Email” (you must never have sent an email from here before) anyway, it goes right to google instead of the usual Yahoo composing screen!
I am using the newest version IE6sp2
The only thing that has been installed lately is Googel G-mail and thats when the trouble started!! ThanksMay 6, 2006 at 3:28 pm #143919williamleeMemberyes your right I never went into email by using this link but well you taught me a useful bit of information so thats good.
I have been trying to get my computer to do the same as yours is doing. I need you to check something. bring up your messenger and go to your preferences under the general tab.
Make sure the box is checked where it says: automatically sign me in when I click yahoo links in messenger. If that check is not there you need to put one there and make sure you click applied then ok. then log out and back in and see if the problem is still present and if it is I will try and find another solution.
good luck

automatically sign me in when I click yahoo links in messenger. Yes, that is checked, Thanks
I was also looking around gmail settings and could not find anything, dont know how it is taking over my yahoo email, just in that part of messenger. Any other link takes me directly to my yahoo composing screen.
This is going to be one of those solutions that I will Frame before putting it into my tip collection. LOL
IF you come up with any more idea’s please dont hesitate to let me know?May 6, 2006 at 4:05 pm #143914tomsbbbMemberWillamlee: Also I just found this on there site, I dont know if it has anything to do with my problem or not, what do you think>>>
Gmail Tip #29: A Small Quirk With Gmail Notify’s ‘mailto:’ HandlerRead on to better understand a small idiosyncracy with Gmail’s Gmail Notifier application…
One cool feature of Gmail Notifier is that it can be configured to act as the default “mailto:” handler. When set up to do this. Gmail Notifier will open a Compose Window in a new browser window with the email address auto-filled in.
Just be aware that unless you check the “keep me logged in for two weeks” checkbox on the login screen, you will have to log in every time…even if you are already logged into Gmail in another browser window.
While it can be a bit cumbersom, it’s certainly worth the new features!
May 6, 2006 at 5:35 pm #143916YahooliganMemberTom, are you using GMail Notifier? If so, it sounds like that’s what’s causing Gmail to “intercept” the send email requests.
May 6, 2006 at 6:20 pm #143915tomsbbbMemberYes I am using it, how do I get rid of it? Thanks
Edit: oK, I see how to uninstall gmail notifier, I will uninstall it and let you Guys know if it fixed it, Thanks
Edit: Yahooligan: You were right, I uninstalled the Notifier and it now back to normal. Thank You, and Thank ALL you all for your replies and help. -
