I’m not quite sure how Google pulled this off, but it is the first time I have ever seen a simple link open as a sidebar in Firefox.
When you launch the Google Talk Gadget from here, it opens as a pop up and asks you if you want to add the gadget to your bookmarks. If you do, and then click the bookmark, the gadget will actually open up as a sidebar! (like the history or bookmarks sidebars) The sidebar remains in place as you navigate through different tabs. Since this is the first time I have ever seen this in years of FF browsing, I am guessing that Google collaborated with FF somehow to be able to do this. Anyone know?
Either way, it’s pretty friggin’ cool 😎

I always thought it meant that the bookmark would appear in the bookmark sidebar, but apparently it means the link loads in the sidebar when clicked.
Long story short: False alarm; any bookmark can be loaded in the sidebar 😮
Anyway, Jeff, if you want to manually add the bookmark, here’s the URL:

In a way, it seems like they are going for an all web based thing here which personally I think is a shame, at least they are creative with it though.
