The sharp eyes over at Google Blogoscoped forums spotted this image on an internal Google Apps resource overview (the page has since been taken down).

The image, if genuine, implies that Google Talk may be testing the ability to dial out to regular phone numbers, similar to Skype, Gizmo Project, WLM, Yahoo and AIM.
Actually, when you think about how nearly everyone in the IM space offers VoIP-to-telephone capability already, it makes you wonder what’s taking Google so long. I’ve heard rumors that they have a few smart people over there — you’d think they could figure this out. And it’s been a long while since we’ve seen anything really new in Google Talk.
More coverage
Yeah, they really created quite a boom with the release of Google Talk, then eventually buddy icons, but for the longest time it’s just kinda been sitting there with no real updates.
