I’ve noticed, since using Google Talk for all of my audio chats, that without fail, Google Talk disconnects after an hour. I reconnect and everything’s fine – for another hour. Now, I’m not sure if this is happening on my end; or that of my chat contact. I’ve gone through past posts and saw nothing addressing this issue.:cool:
This is probably a problem on your end. I’d say your internet is timing-out every hour or so. You may not notice it with EVERY program, but I know Google Talk is sensitive to disconnecting and reconeccting.
Hmm: Good point, Mr. Salad. I didn’t think of it, but seeing as I use a wireless router/modem, I’m not surprised little blips could do that. Thanks!
If it is timed to disconnect you should get disconnected everytime after exact no. of minutes and seconds.

I dont know if you have enough spare time to try it out but do satisfy yourself i you have time though i’d believe Google wouldnt do this since it affects their QOS.Like I said, probably something to do with their connection, I just have noticed (I’m on a wireless network) that when my connection gets low, and if I have say Trillian and Google Talk up, Google Talk will be the one to disconnect. I think it’s sensitive because it is Jabber, not sure exactly why that would do anything, but AIM and the others have their own, which I’m guessing could update every so often, making it so you may not notice the sudden internet loss.
You’ve also raised a good point, Hasan. The disconnect does indeed occur exactly 60 minutes after being on GoogleTalk. Not a big issue; a couple of clicks and I’m back in. Google announced yesterday it’ll be adding chat to their GMail – how neat is that?! đŸ™‚ I agree with Mr. Salad’s point about Google being quite sensitive; but the quality of voice is still, imho, very good. Thanks, Hasan and Mr. Salad for your input.
