ParticipantI need a button to replace this one I resized earlier today:

I resized the image from:

This button can be seen from within a PM message. We never had a ‘Reply’ button which makes it somewhat counter-intuitive to use the PM system.
Thanks!

ParticipantFor consistency’s sake, can I get that as a GIF? Thanks. 🙂

MemberDave: Are you talking about replacing the “Quote” button in PM’s with a Reply button? If, so, I would advise to you that that image is the same as the forum “Quote” button and you probably shouldn’t replace it, unless you plan to do some template editing.

ParticipantI already changed the template for postbit and postbit_legacy properly. reply_tmp.gif is the “Reply” icon.

The quote button probably confuses alot of people. I remember the first time I read a PM, I couldn’t figure out how to reply until I just started clicking buttons… So, yes, there should be a button (like Det’s) for PM’s. :pMay 16, 2007 at 2:57 am #161315Jeff Hester
KeymasterI’ve updated Dave’s button with the proper one. I’ve got all the original stuff here.
As a side note, it seems like the “reply” and “quote” buttons do the same thing. Or is it just me?

ParticipantI don’t even see a reason to have quote in a private message IMO. o.O

MemberA quote is meant to be like a normal reply to an email – it retains the previous conversations’ contents. A reply is meant to be like a completely new email ready to be fired off, over a topic already in discussion.

ParticipantI’m failing to see a way to reply without quote within the vB PM system. I’m going to look into it and see if there is a way to only reply, though.
However, in the spirit on e-mail… “Reply” does reply with quote on almost every client by default.

MemberI wasn’t speaking with regards to email – I was using email as an analogy.
I believe it could be pretty easy to hack out the quote inclusion snippet and then you just have a blank reply with recipient + subject.

ParticipantAre you familiar with vB? I’m not so this is new to me, and I’m trying to research how it can be done, or even where this is done from.

ParticipantReply to PMs without quoting them – vBulletin.org Forum
This will provide the required functionality–but I don’t have a vB license so I can’t see the changes that need to be made.
Jeff: could you get me that page with the code (or Spike–I think you have a license)?
Thanks!

…good luck. You won’t get far without a vBulletin license. 😛
And yes, I’m familiar with most, if not all, the major bulletin board softwares out there.
