MemberEveryone has an opinion on the War in Iraq. A war being fought to “liberate” the masses of Iraq. It was proclaimed as A great democratic crusade.
The lies of the American governemnt are comming to light however. When Jessica Lynch’s vehicle was allegedly attacked by America’s Islamic foes, the goverment said she was kidnapped. A great operation was launched to save this great american hero.
As it turned out, it was a joke. Lynch was rescued by the Iraq’eees’. She probably would have died without their help. She wasn’t a hero and neither where the fellow american’s who “heroiclly” stormed the hospital to get Lynch.
Against the Governments best efforts however, the truth came to light. Plans for movies, books and TV speacials where scrapped. The nly TV speacials we saw were on how the Government lied.
Months later we have Pat Tiiman. He gave up playing high paying gridion to join the army and deffend America against the great un-democratic forces of Saddam.
On 22nd April he was shot dead. The government depicted him as a great hero. Shot dead by insurgents whilst shouting orders to his fellow rangers.
Truth is, he was shot dead by his own rangers. Not so friendly fire. He wasn’t a hero, just patriotic. Fighting for lying government and gullible country.
Point is, the whole thing is a joke.
The american goverment lied to it’s people. It discredited democratic principles to start up another great demcracy. Vietnam was meant to be the great lie from the gov to the people. Iraq is almost as bad.
Iraq isn’t going to work anyway. Osama could be shot dead tomorow but there will always be another Osama the next day. This ins’t one person leading masses against the western world, it’s a school of thought.
The people of the world are going to kill each other because they can’t agree. Largley due to religion, we are all going to be killed of by one another.
Because we can’t agree on something that doesn’t exist.

Religion doesn’t exist? So you’re saying that there is no God, and atheism is the right road to take? Well…without sounding rude, what gives you the right to rubbish what people believe in?
Everyone has the right to believe in whatever they wish, some people find comfort in a religion, whilst others think they don’t need it.
Personally, I have been brought up in a Christian churchgoing family, therefore from a young age I have been attending church. Obviously as I got older, I started to form my own opinions of it, and was never all that sure what to believe. However, I kept an open mind and never totally rubbished the possibility that God does exist. I won’t go into too much detail, its a long story.
As for the Iraq issue and the “lies” which you put forward, most of it is simply propaganda. It’s been used way back in the days of WW1 and WW2, simply as a morale boosting tool. There are things which the general public don’t always need to know, things which should be kept quiet.

MemberMartin, you bring up great points, (on a side note, propaganda was used even before those wars…but it’s true those are the ones where it became SO WIDESPREAD)
As far as lies, ALL governments lie, EVEN Australia’s…governments are run by politicians and it’s part of their job to lie. The VERY few that don’t, do what they can. But in all honesty, do you think that letting a man (living in lavish homes and having whatever he wanted while the rest of the country was impovrished) who kills the people in his country for sport (ie. testing bombs on the Kurds…mmm…I seem to remember another man doing that to the Spaniards just before WW II…I wonder who?) should be left to hurt others?
AGAIN, the States has a terrible situation…”Damned if you do; Damned if you don’t.” Everyone expects the States to step in and “police” the world and when they actually do, they are condemned for it. I am not stating my opinion on the war, because it may or may not be what you think it is, what I am saying is that saying the government lies in ANY country is stating the obvious.June 4, 2005 at 11:34 pm #123312neo_ny_23
MemberI have a quote from The Avenger by Frederick Forsythwith with which I agree and I feel its right. Here a senior MI6 officer is advicing a young new CIA officer about why the Islamic Fundamentalists hate USA:
“My dear boy, if you were weak, you would not be hated. If you were poor, you would not be hated. You are not hated despite the trillion dollars; you are hated because of the trillion dollars.”
“The hatred of your country is not because it attacks theirs; it is because it keeps theirs safe. Never seek popularity. You can have supremacy or be loved but never both. What is felt towards you is ten percent genuine disagreement and ninety percent envy. Never forget two things! No man can ever forgive his protector. There is no loathing that any man harbors more intense than that toward his benefactor.”
About catching Osama Bin Laden, USA missed lots of chances. The period (in early 1990s) when it should be concentrating about catching the man before he became strong, the government was busy with Saddam Hussein’s undetectable WMDs. The past governments in order to keep the USSR and communism at the bay fed the young snakes and now these poisonous snakes are back to bite them.
Solving this problem cant be easy or instant as President Bush says. It wont take 5 years, nor even 10 years. It will take few generations. The real danger doesn’t lie in Osama Bin Laden. The real danger lies in the madrasas or the muslim fundamentalists who are fanning the sentiments of the mass and also the people who believe them. If USA wants to do anything about solving this, it has to cooperate with as many countries as possible, but not with the ones which are directly or indirectly providing all kinds of help and support to those terrorist organizations, but showing off infront of the world that they are trying to help USA.
Every country has its own priorities and does something which benefits itself. Some countries which have been the birth place of Taliban regime and gave home and support to Osama bin Laden are pretending to help USA and the rest of the world by few publicity stunts infront of the media. The biggest irony is our government backs those countries and even pats at their backs for their “great job”.
Yes, we might have “solved” the Iraq problem with whatever we said and whatever we did. The government officials and the planners didnt lose anything. They got the power and they got the oil. The only people who lost were the innocent civilians who were killed in the war and the soldiers who sacrificed their life for their motherland. But the main question is, what are we REALLY doing to catch Osama bin Laden? Is he so elusive that the strongest country in the world has no clue where this one man is hiding and take him out? Or is it some kind of arrangement or secret understanding about “not capturing = no future terrorist attacks” policy?
I personally feel that President Bush has lots of things to answer.

ParticipantThe only thing I have to say here is that your stinging choice of words… “Sick Country” “Great Lies from the Great Democracy” and the like don’t help you turn my much earlier comment of “you seem to be unfairly biased toward anti american sentiments” (paraphrasing).
Really…what the heck are you trying to do but stroke people the wrong way, Qwerty? You do nothing but talk about how horrid the US is, and certainly it is not the only country that does suspicious things!
And also, the actions of a few people do not tell about an entire country of people. There are plenty of folks who do not think that we are under the proper governing right now, and there are plenty more who were appauled by those findings you’ve just “brought to light” as well.
Next time, why don’t you try taring some other country a new a-hole, just for a change of pace, alrighty? Go “dig up” or “bring to light” someone elses mistakes and unfortunate events. Or is it just easier for you to continuously tear into the US because it’s a high profile country? Really, that hardly seems fair. Why don’t you put forth some effort and look for another scapegoat for the “sickness” in the world.
