Happy Day! My son has to work today, but I got to sleep in, and I’m going to a BBQ this afternoon. Then down to Dana Point to watch the fireworks tonight. A good day any way you slice it.

I don’t get all patriotic on the 4th, but it signals the fact that summer is really kicking into high gear–something all us northern hemisphere-ers can appreciate. Be sure you take time to appreciate summer as much as you can!

I failed.

I attempted to celebrate by blowing up a little piece of the world (i.e. Rochester), as suggested by Tom’s buddy Erik…but …unfortunately…ehm…someone stole my lighter. Yeah.

Whoever says sitting in your basement isn’t patriotic?

why am i not surprised that erik would suggest blowing up the town?

I celebrated by sleeping in as late as I could, then lounging around the house in my pajamas for another few hours, then lounging around the house in regular clothes for the rest of the day. Unfortunately I couldn’t go outside as much as I wanted, since I got pretty badly sunburned last weekend… stop-sign red is not a good color for me, trust me.

okay so i am a few days late on this one…when am i ever on time lately?

independence day (aka july 4th) is a HUGE deal to me. because i live in philadelphia, and that is the founding of the u.s. nation, where the declaration of independence was written (and signed) at independence hall, where the contstitution was written (and signed), etc.

philly has a week-long celebration we call sunoco welcome america! that lasted this year from june 28-july 4 right on penn’s landing where i work. there are fireworks every night on the landing, as well as concerts every night, and then the week ends with the party on the parkway. although in philly the cops told us the fireworks were “cancelled” due to rain. so everyone goes home, and about 11:30 weds nite the fireworks go off for the news cameras! of course i was in bed by then, as i had to get up and go to work the next day.
