MemberI go to a college and lately I have been gettin very rude and mean IMs from a user with an obvious fake screenname. I will not give it out now until I can get some help. But the campus police say they are working on it and the computer resource center is saying they are trying to take care of it. I want to know what I can do…if anything…to track this persons IP address the next time he/she IMs me. I have tried to use a program called Airsnare but I have no idea what I am doing. If anyone knows a program please let me know. I am starting to get scared and I want to find out who this bastard is. Thanks!
And I just signed on this tonight because I need answers somewhere. I have on idea where to look, and this person is really starting to scare me.

Memberim not sure of details but if you get him/her to direct connect you can catch their IP address. could you please explain what this “bastard” is saying to you? how he/she is scaring you? if you got the police it must be pretty serious…there are also certain hit counters that log IP’s I used one one time so I’ll go check on that…just put hit counter on a site and make the guy go there (itll also tell you the country what browser hes using and etc)

Memberhey Quik….they are just threatening me and saying things to me that I am not appreciating at all. How can I get the IP address from direct connecting with the person? and the link spy thing could work but this person knows better. I know he goes to my school because he knows things about me that a stranger would not know.

MemberWell since I couldn’t find it here in my five minutes of searching I found this:
Quote:quote: If/Once you direct connect to him:
open a command prompt and type either…
netstat -n
netstat -n | find “4443”So that should work…try it next time he/she signs on!

ParticipantAnd the problem with blocking him/her is? Or even select “Block all users not on my list” in the privacy options.

Memberwinston, can we get more information about the situation? I can help but im confused… you wrote earlier it was a “user” but then say this… “hey Quik….they are just threatening me and saying things to me that I am not appreciating at all.” is this 1 person or 2 people?

the problem is I want and need to find this guy. He has made numerous threats and goes to my school. Blocking on AIM doesnt pertain to real life.

ParticipantOh okay, so he is local.
Windows 2000/XP:
Start > Run > CMD
Or if you are on 98/Me:
Start > Run > command.comNovember 5, 2004 at 2:22 am #103946Winston145

It is just one person from what I know of. It is a user on AIM….just a fake screenname but thats all I know about him. I need to get his IP to turn into campus police

MemberStart > Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt
typing in netstat -n gives you all the IP’s
typing in netstat -n | find 4443 doesnt work for me…
