Continuing from my previous thread I wrote…
My other Yahoo email account now has the same problem.
Before when I logged into my email, the greeting at the top of my page would say, Welcome, XXXXX. Then all on it’s own, one day I logged in and my welcome said, Greetings, [email protected]. I did NOT change this. I have NO idea why it has happened…Now my other email account is showing my full email address in the greeting, instead of my name. It just bugs me and I’ve emailed Yahoo Help, they give me the same reply, how to change it back (which won’t work, I tried many times) and that if I suspect someone has hacked into my account to change the passwords. Done that, still happening.
WTF? Has this ever happened to anybody else?? IT just drives me nuts as I want to know why this has happened to me twice, in both of my Yahoo email accounts.
Thanks inadvance…

I’ve had no other problems though, no weird emails going out or in, so that makes me think it’s a problem on Yahoo’s end, even though they claim it isn’t.
hmmmmm…..

Mac,
Considering the problem, I wouldn’t jump to the conclusion that your account has been hacked. I think if someone was going to go to the trouble to hack into your account they would do more than modify your email display name a little. I know its frustrating, and since it doesn’t appear anyone else has this problem, it could just be a glitch, or maybe someone who has access to your account unintentionally made the modification? In any case, I agree that changing your password is a good idea. If you have never experienced strange, unexplained events with Yahoo….you haven’t been using it long enough. Let us know if you do discover what caused your problem.June 30, 2006 at 10:24 pm #147158Mac_BlueMemberThe weird thing is, when Yahoo finally got back to me about this problem, they explained how to fix it so that the greeting would come up with name, instead of the actual email address and it still didn’t go back to how it was, it stayed the same.
I doubt someone hacked in my account seeing as nothing has been changed and no weird emails have been sent out…
Think you’re right, a Yahoo glitch. Maybe I’ve just been lucky, I’ve been a yahoo user for about 2 years or so now.
Thanks for replying Fancy!
