is there a way to have 5.2 and 5.5 at the same time? like put 5.5 in a diff folder or is that not possible?
March 5, 2004 at 2:22 am #48673syntaxMemberYou can install AIM 5.2 in one folder and AIM 5.5 in another, but you can only run one version at a time. For example, say you installed AIM 5.2 in the Program Files/AIM95 directory and AIM 5.5 in the Program Files/AIM directory. If you go into the Program Files/AIM95 folder and start AIM 5.2, then you go into the Program Files/AIM folder and start AIM 5.5, it will bring up the AIM 5.2 sign on screen since it was started first. That said, you can’t run both at the same time only the one that is executed first.

March 5, 2004 at 9:48 pm #48674mrblonde608ParticipantWhy would you want to run both?
If you want to be on two screennames, just clone the damn thing.
I don’t see that point in wanting to have both, just more spyware.
March 6, 2004 at 3:10 am #48669rascatMemberclone? I thought the whole point of 5.5 was multiple sn capablities? besides, you wouldn’t have more spyware. The spyware on 5.2 and 5.5 all send information to the same people, like wildtangent. look at the fourm on skimming 5.5 to aviod spyware or get a program to get rid of it. as for having both, I like 5.2’s functionality better, but someone might need 5.5’s features at times. or you can put them in seperate folders when you download 5.5 so if you decide to get rid of it, 5.2 is still on your computer ready to go.
March 6, 2004 at 3:55 am #48672EvanMemberno I dont want to run both at the same time. I just want to have a choice of 5.2 and 5.5
March 6, 2004 at 4:07 am #48668rascatMemberI actually just tried to have them both at once and I couldn’t get it to work. AIM 5.5 opened originally, but after I closed it once all I could get to open was 5.2. you might be able to figure it out if you work with it for a while. there were no errors that showed up.
March 6, 2004 at 5:39 am #48670EvanMemberok thanks alot
