MemberI went from 7.0 to 7.5 and started to have problems with it dropping offline and coming back on by itself in the middle of chatting with friends so I went to 8.0 when it was offered and still have the same problem. On occassion it comes up with an error message stating “Yahoo Messenger must close”. I’m tired of it and want to go back to 7.0, where I didn’t have any problems but am not sure if I can without having to reinvite everyone all over again. How can I do that?

ParticipantI’m sure you don’t have to re-invite, the contacts remain. All you are doing is downgrading it, so nothing but the software elements should change but not your contacts.
It could be your connection is weak and you keep losing it and it returns again when the connection is stronger or maybe some security issues or settings in your antivirus/firewall.August 27, 2006 at 3:13 am #151253imported_Ven0m
MemberYou mean re-adding people to your buddy list? All contacts are stored server side, so you don’t have to worry about that.
Just uninstall Yahoo 8 and reinstall 7.

ParticipantWhen Downgrading a Version Make sure you do a Complete Uninstall
As newser files may be used for Newer Versions of messenger.
And cause old versions to Crash.

MemberI had the same exact problem as lewisjr. Even going so far as being kicked off every 5 seconds or so for many minutes. Almost threw my pc out the window lol. And I figured this shouldn’t have been happening using ultra-high-speed connection thru my phone company.
What I did do was follow Dermot’s suggestion, deleted absolutely everything involved with yahoo thru that wizard, downloaded version 6 which worked great for me (touch wood). Thank you muchly Dermot.
Heard a rumour that yahoo would soon no longer support 6 so I made my way back up to 7.0.2.120 and still am staying put while online (smile) Now when the time comes that 7 is abandoned and I have to go to 7.5 or 8 ?? Wish me luck lol
