But my knowledge is limited hope somebody can help.August 15, 2005 at 7:21 pm #127521ToeBeeMemberIt is possible to run two instances of yahoo using a polygamy patch but I am unsure if they can be seperate versions. ie “Latin America” and “U.S.”.
There are several links to polygamy patches here on bbb but depending on what version you have you have to use a certain patch…

Then, go back and reinstall Yahoo! Messenger 7 BETA and there you go, now you can still get on more than 1 instance of Yahoo! Messenger using BETA.I would say install one version of messenger, then patch it with a polygamy patch, then install the other one and see if it works.

If you are using the new Yahoo Messenger 7.0 then we have different softwares for that. or else the software which Amy wrote about above is good enough (BTW I havent tested Amy’s recommended software for my 7.0, so dont really know if it works or not).
August 17, 2005 at 8:05 am #127523miGsMemberIm not certain about this, but both versions will use the Yahoo! folder when installing right? If that is the case, there might be a problem with installation because both versions will have the Ypager.exe, thus prompting you to overwrite the other.
However, i have tested this method in one local SMS messenger in my country and it works (but not to YM though 🙁 ). I installed a version of the application in my PC, copy the program folder and rename it. Then i uninstalled the application.
Then, i installed another version of that messenger in my PC. And there, i was able to have two different version of that messenger in my PC. One with a desktop shortcut and the other has not. Meaning i could launch one version of that messenger using the desktop shortcut, but for the other one, i have to go to the C:/Program Files/(Application Folder) and execute the application from there.Again, i havent tested in Y!M. But you might want to try it. 🙂

When you run a polygammy patch for example from Y!MultiMessenger Polygammy patch, there will be another icon called Y!MultiMessenger.exe. So what you have to do is to use the shortcut for Y!MultiMessenger.exe each time to start a different Yahoo Messenger window instead of using YPager.exe
Atleast thats how it works with me.
