MemberHI! I have been having problems with MSN Messenger, Explorer, and Hotmail lately. Everytime I try to sign into MSN Messenger, I get a message telling me that my username or password is incorrect (I am absolutely positive they are correct). If I try to sign into MSN Explorer, it simply tells me that I cannot connect at this time, and if I try to sign into Hotmail, I just get that error page. I have msn messenger 7.0 I tried to go to the page that lets you get a new passport but I get an error page. The message I get when I try log into messenger is when I try sign in is:
signing in to msn messenger failed because the service is temporarily unavailable please try again later 80090305.. I also can’t get yahoo messenger to log me in or icq. Nothing seems to work. I can download them and install them I just can’t get logged in to them and I can’t get a page to work to get a new passport. If you could help it would be very much appreciated. My email is tmitchener@sasktel.net . Thank you. I downloaded msn messenger 7.0 build 7.0.0816 I have windows 98 and the computer is a packard bell . I have also tried to use yahoo messenger and icq and those won’t work either. I can install them. Nothing works after that.November 17, 2006 at 7:01 pm #154506Fancy
MemberTammy…since you sent a private message asking for help, you need to clear your stored messages because you have exceeded your limit and no one can send you replies to the private messages you are sending out. I am hoping one of the resident experts on all things MSN will reply with something useful to help you with your situation soon. meanwhile there are a few things I would suggest you do. First, make sure you haven’t done something silly, like accidentally left your caps lock key on, or perhaps someone has used your computer lately and changed your password, check the email account that you left with MSN to notify you of password changes just in case. Try accessing your MSN mail from another computer and see if it works, is there any chance something has changed on your computer and you no longer have the required 60MB of disk space to run MSN Explorer? Is everything else working except MSN? Post which version you are using so the experts can better pin point what may be the problem. Also post what kind of computer you are using, and what type of internet connection. All these things might help someone figure out what your problem is. Glad you came to BBB, and I am sure someone with a fix or similar problem will help you soon.

ParticipantHello Tammy M and welcome to BigBlueBall 🙂
I appreciate it for sending out a private message, but you can be sure that your post in the forum had already been noticed and examined and at the moment, being solved on 😉 (Trying at least)
This is -probably-related to Internet Explorer. It’s very likely that something went wrong during the installation and that it did not install the encryption. If you check the Information on IE (Help/About Internet Explorer), it says Cypher Strength set at 0 bit.
Since Internet Explorer sets the cypher strength for your whole computer, MSN and other programs can’t run properly unless it’s set at 128 bit. Reinstalling IE should reset your Cypher strength to 128 bit and fix your problem. Though you might have to install it 2 or 3 times to get it to finally work…
I really hope that helps, and don’t forget there’s a much newer version than the one you are using that you could try out. Windows Live Messenger 😉
