Hello everyone im having a problem with msn 6.0 when i ask for remote assistance it tells me i need to update but i allready got 6.0 so there shouldent be a problem as i allready have the new version?
The program has, apart from a version number, also a build number. For example: “MSN Messenger v6.0 0602”. 0602 is the build number.
When there’s only a few small changes made to the MSN Messenger program, it’s called a “new build” and the build number will increase. It’s possible that there’s a new build of MSN Messenger with only a few changes done. You probably won’t even see the actual changes (if you don’t look at the ‘About’ box), but there might be some security issues and crashes addressed within the upgrade.
I had the same error, and I found the cure!
You can’t use remote assistance if you use MSN Messenger 6.0, at least, the assistant is forced to use Windows Messenger 4.7 since remote assistance don’t work through MSN Messenger at all, exept that you can request it! Just shut down MSN 6.0 and start Windows Messenger 4.7 … voila, you can now assist another WinXP user!
