Hello, I was on AIM and someone created a sn and posed as me calling my friends the B word and insulting them. I want to do something about it and he/she is continually doing this. What should I do?
you can try putting a message in your profile saying that someone with the screenname insert screenname here is posing as you, and that it’s not you so they should ignore them
tell your friends its not you. make a password.
You: “hey” / Imposter: “hey”
them: “wait, whats the password?”
You: “apple” / Imposter: “I dont know”
them: “o ok watsup?” / them: “im not talking to you”
that’s all I can think of.
thanks! also do you think I should contact AIM or whatever?
you could try, but here’s the response you’ll get:
You: detail the problem you’re having
AOL: “well… tough luck. sucks to be you. oh by the way were you interested in paying money for a crappy service that we keep releasing as ‘new and improved’?”
aol doesn’t care, aim is a free service so they feel no obligation to do anything
tell your friends which address to block. Or, download a screenname suspender and suspend the impostor’s screenname.
