I can’t remember my password and I’ve only got it saved on one computer and I can’t get it to send me my password when I click on ‘lost password’ and its registered to the right email addy that it’s registered under. It pisses me off that I can’t keep my name since I’ll be getting rid of the computer that has it stored on. Does anyone know what I can do? ?????:confused::confused::confused::confused:
I had a similar problem with my password and when I sent out to AIM via the ‘lost password’ thing nothing happened. BUT, about a week later I got an email from AIM that had my username and password, weird huh?
I suggest that when you do remember it, or get a super late email, that you click on the ‘save password’ box, it saves a lot of trouble.There is a program call a password recover but i forgot where u can get it… also if u have windows xp then u cant use it.
I might be wrong here… but isn’t the password stored in the registry then?… I’d say give this a shot…
1. Open up the registry… (start… run… “regedit”)
2. Navigate to the ScreenName Key… ([HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareAmerica OnlineAOL Instant Messenger (TM)CurrentVersionUsers*** Your ScreenName ***Login])
3. Right-click on the Login Key and choose export… and save the file somewhere where you can find it quickly…
4. Take this file over to another computer…
5. Install AIM
6. Exit out of AIM completely…
6. open this file (just double-click on it)
7. Say “yes” when it asks you to verify
8. Open up AIM… your screen name should be there… WITH the password saved…it’s not the same as recovering the password… but it’s much easier… let me know… if all else fails… maybe I can write another “password recoverer”… I just don’t like the idea of making it easier for people to get at other people’s SN’s… you know?
