Hello all,
I just installed MSN Messenger 5.0, but the old one is still there? How can I remove it? I unchecked it from the Windows Components Section in Add/Remove programs, but it’s still here. Is there anyway to remove it completely. Also, everytime I start up MS Outlook, the old messenger opens again! 😡
Any solution?
SanderJanuary 15, 2003 at 9:28 pm #98604magistykMemberAre you running Windows XP? That would help.

January 15, 2003 at 10:52 pm #98603magistykMemberI’m guessing you have both MSN Messenger 5 installed and Windows Messenger, there are serveral ways to go about getting Windows Messenger uninstalled and so that it won’t open with Outlook.
Here is a link to a bunch of ways to get rid of it: http://www.wown.com/j_helmig/wxpmssgr.htm

We support those programs you get from here. Mess.be will support the programs you get from them.January 17, 2003 at 6:37 pm #98611VA RileyMemberIs there any reason not to run MSN Messenger and Windows Messenger at the same time? The icons in the tray are slightly different, for what that’s worth.
Reference – magistyk’s comment on “get rid of this”.
I run both – at the same time with different IDs. It seems to work great. I even talked to myself to see how it works – which my son thought was just a little psycho.
January 17, 2003 at 7:25 pm #98600Jeff HesterKeymasterYou can run both and it’s totally fine. Of course, as you’ve learned, you must have two seperate accounts in order to do so, but there’s no problem with running both.
Maybe one account could be for your “inner child” and you could chat to her whenever you wanted to get in touch? 🙂

January 18, 2003 at 9:44 pm #98607sciencefeelingMemberHi Mexican!
Sorry I am not going to give you an answer. I am running XP and it works for me, if a msn site pops out, it might be because you don’t have windows messenger installed (you should if you are running xp, are you?). Maybe it didnt install correctly and it directs you to a dowloading msn site. Can you say wich site are you being directed to?, so..you dont even get the sign in window?, just the msn site?.
Maybe you should tell if you are running xp, if you are sure the windows messenger is installed correctly and if the msn window is a site and wich one…
